The cylinder is one component

A euro cylinder sits through the door and operates the lock case. Some products use features intended to resist snapping or other forms of attack. The term alone does not identify a formal test, rating or certification. Look for the exact scheme and product rather than relying on packaging language by itself.

BSI's TS 007 scheme describes a route using a three-star cylinder, or a one-star cylinder combined with two-star security furniture. Check current certification details for the specific model. SS 312 Diamond is another scheme associated with cylinders. Neither label removes the need to fit a compatible cylinder correctly.

Fit and surrounding hardware still matter

The cylinder should suit the door and lock, and its position relative to protective furniture matters. Incorrect length or installation can leave it projecting or affect operation. Door frame, hinges, glass, keeps and other entry points also affect security. A component rating is not a guarantee for the entire entrance.

If you are replacing a cylinder, keep the old product information if available and ask for the exact model and certification evidence. If the door is a flat entrance fire door, check alteration requirements first. RapidLock lists replacement and rekeying services; discuss your door and key-control needs before agreeing to a product.
